'twas the night before travelling...

Blogging, so I hear its the new facebook or twitter, but either way it's something I have only had the joy of reading through such medias as BBC Sport. Anyway, since I am soon to be embarking on my maiden voyage across the globe, it now feels appropriate (if not smug) to use this as a way of letting those who know me how it's going as I tackle the world head on.

So with less than 24 hours to go until I leave for San Francisco, I feel I should give a prequel to how and why this has come about. Having completed my degree back in June, it was always an ambition of mine to go travelling, prompted more by the fact that full-time employment was a less appertising prospect and a masters seemed even more drab. So, along with such asteemed journeyman as Christopher Columbus and of course not forgetting Karl Pilkington, plans were made to set off from these shores for a few months (seven in fact). Starting in America, I obviously look forward to a few hearty meals, as well as the ever present patriotism. However this is just the start of the trip, one which will be filled with everlasting memories and irreplacable opportunities.

My aim with this blog is to let my friends and family know how things are going on this trip. I will try to keep this up to date as much as possible but I won't be making any promises. For now I will say goodnight (mainly as I have to be awake for 5am).

P.S. don't forget to catch Graeme Smith's brilliant blog.
